Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of New London, CT, Swad Tandoori stands out as a beacon for Indian cuisine enthusiasts seeking authentic, richly flavored dishes. This Indian restaurant welcomes diners with a warm, spacious ambiance that feels both inviting and relaxed — perfect for intimate dinners or jovial gatherings alike.

The menu at Swad Tandoori brilliantly showcases the art of tandoori cooking, where succulent proteins are marinated in aromatic spices and expertly broiled in a traditional clay oven. Highlights include the Chicken Tikka, featuring tender boneless chicken cubes that carry a delicate smoky char, and the robust Seekh Kabab, composed of ground lamb impeccably seasoned with a fragrant blend of spices. Lamb lovers will find the Boti Kabab irresistible, with each cube grilled to juicy perfection. For those seeking variety, the Mixed Grill platter offers an array of these delicious tandoori specialties, making it an ideal choice to sample the restaurant's signature flavors.

Carb lovers are equally pampered with an assortment of Indian breads. The Garlic Naan entices with its tender, pillowy texture and fresh bursts of garlic and cilantro, while the Keema Naan, stuffed with mildly spiced chopped lamb, delivers a savory depth that perfectly complements the vibrant mains. The softness of the Naan itself draws high praise, elevating the entire dining experience.

Swad Tandoori’s drink options offer refreshing choices such as the traditional Mango Lasi and Salted Lasi, fabulous for cutting through the spices and cleansing the palate.

What truly sets Swad Tandoori apart is the consistently praised culinary craftsmanship that brings each dish to life with rich, complex flavors and impeccable presentation. Guests often mention the perfect balance of spices—never overpowering, but layered and nuanced, as evidenced by glowing reviews celebrating the Lamb Korma’s tender meat and cashew-studded sauce as well as the medium-spiced Chicken Curry that warms and excites the taste buds.

Beyond the food, the atmosphere is calm and spacious, providing a sense of tranquility and ease even during busier hours. The staff’s genuine hospitality adds to the welcoming vibe, ensuring every guest feels valued, whether it’s a first-time visit or a beloved regular’s return.

If you’re visiting New London and crave an authentic taste of India’s culinary heritage, Swad Tandoori offers not just a meal, but a memorable experience — one that lingers long after the last bite.

Fantastic food. Lamb korma was amazing, succulent, tender pieces of lamb and lots of cashews, great flavor. Other order was chicken curry: medium spice was perfect spiciness, rich and complex flavors. Their naan was out of this world. Rice pudding for dessert was excellent. Big proportions, took home leftovers.

The restaurant was really nice with lots of space, so it didn’t feel crowded at all. It was calm and relaxing. The food was amazing. The naan was my favorite, so soft and fresh. I also loved the chicken curry; it was super tasty and cooked just right. Price was reasonable as well. I had a great time here and I’ll definitely come back again!

Wonderful spot to eat, not our first visit and won't be the last. Lots of options for heat ! Little understaffed on a Friday night but they were making it work.

Hands down BEST Indian food in southeastern CT. This place turned me into an Indian food lover and after having their chicken korma it is now my FAVORITE food! The rice pudding, garlic naan, and mango lasse are some other favorites for myself and my family.

Very good little Indian place, glad we stopped in on the way a show at the Garde. My go-to got for Indian has been Spice Palette. Menu here is cheaper. The tandoori mixed platter was phenomenal! All of the meat was very tender, well seasoned, and I liked the accompanying lemon slices. Husband tried the Tibetan steamed buns. They were ok but I imagine they would have been better with a sauce to sop them up with. We also got the garlic naan. The star of the show is the tandoori. I will be back again to try other things! Service and time to eat was pretty fast.

They started off by bringing out a little treat (papadam with cumin seeds) for us to snack on while looking at the menu. I personally love cumin seeds and any sort of chip so I was thrilled. We got the lamb momo, saag paneer, onion naan, and house platter. The food was excellent. The service was quick and friendly. The prices and portions were great as well. Keep in mind that we got quite a bit of food, but we had enough leftovers to make a full lunch the next day. We both can’t wait to go back to try more of the menu. Edit: Been back many times and the food remains amazing.
